Visit to UBC Farm (4’s class)

We have booked a visit to UBC Farm on Tuesday October 22 from 12:15 to 2:15. Let’s hope for some nice weather!
Carpooling: If you are unable to attend the farm trip with your child it is not a problem. Please “reply all” to the group so that we can coordinate drivers. If you have extra space in your car it would be appreciated if you could assist in taking another child or two. Once identified parents/guardians can coordinate details amongst themselves. The goal is obviously to ensure everyone who wants to can attend!
 
Weather: Remember to keep an eye on the weather.  Farm field trips take place outdoors, rain or shine. There can be wet grasses, even if it is not raining.  Waterproof hats or hoods are preferable to umbrellas for safety reasons.  We recommend students wear either rubber boots or an extra pair of old shoes, especially if there is a call for rain.

Washrooms: The UBC Farm has limited washroom facilities. It would be best for the students to be given a washroom break before your scheduled tour start time, either at your school or at the farm (there is a porta-potty located near your meeting point at the gate). This will prevent interruptions during the tour.

Snacks: Our tours tend to be jam-packed with content and we do not have a designated snack time on our tours by default.  We recommend students bring a “pocket snack” they can eat intermittently at our tour stops.  If you would like a sit-down snack time, let us know in advance through e-mail if you did not already indicate this in your field trip details.  Remember to pack out your garbage with you!

Transportation and Parking: If driving, park in the parking lot outside of the farm gates and enter your license plate number at the meter.  The first 2 hours of parking are free.  Your tour guide will meet your group just inside the farm gate on the grass.
